The Delta State Police Command today, Monday, 24th February 2025 wishes to inform the general public of recent developments in an ongoing investigation involving a female suspect, Ms. Onome Okuoma, who was recently arrested in connection with alleged misconduct.
The case was reported to the Police by an engineer, identified as Engr. Donald, following a disclosure made by his daughter. The complainant alleged that the suspect, who was employed as his site supervisor , had engaged in inappropriate conduct involving his daughter, including introducing her to acts considered unlawful under Nigerian law.
Upon receipt of the complaint, the Police obtained a formal statement from the victim and commenced an investigation into the matter. As part of efforts to apprehend the suspect, a coordinated operation was carried out, leading to the successful arrest of Ms. Onome Okuoma at a designated location.
The suspect was subsequently taken into custody and detained for preliminary investigation. She was later arraigned before a Magistrate Court sitting in Asaba. The court, having considered the nature of the allegations, denied her bail application and ordered that she be remanded in a correctional facility pending the continuation of the case.
During the course of interrogation, the suspect made disclosures regarding her associations with several individuals, namely: Oghenekaro Avwerosuo, Efemena Okpako, Erezi Oghenetega, Ibifubara Dokubo, and Oke Alfred. These disclosures have significantly broadened the scope of the investigation. The individuals mentioned have been identified, and some are currently assisting the Police with ongoing inquiries.
Further investigations have led to the reopening of a past incident linked to Demonstrating Secondary School, Mosogar in 2019, where Okuoma and Alfred Oke were identified as the principal suspects, and were reportedly involved in same-sex activities on the school premises, as well as attempts to lure other students into such acts.
The school authorities subsequently took disciplinary action by expelling both Onome Okuoma and Alfred Oke from the school.
At the time, the matter was not reported to the Police due to insufficient evidence. However, recent developments have brought new information to light, necessitating a review of the incident.
The Command hereby announces that two individuals connected to this investigation, Ms. Erezi Oghenetega and Ms. Alfred Oke, have been declared WANTED for questioning in connection with this case. Despite several efforts to locate them, they remain at large.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, has directed an intensified manhunt for the suspects. Members of the public are hereby urged to assist the Police with any credible information that may lead to their arrest. Their photographs will be circulated through appropriate channels to aid identification.
The Delta State Police Command reiterates that it frowns at acts considered unlawful under Nigerian law and assures the public that all allegations will be thoroughly investigated in accordance with due process.
Members of the public are also advised to refrain from spreading unverified information, as all individuals mentioned in this case are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
The Command remains committed to ensuring justice, maintaining public order, and safeguarding the rights and dignity of all persons.
Further updates will be communicated as the investigation progresses.
